Development Progression 4

V1.4 is released, and it's the first "aesthetics" update.

The first menu that loads when the game is opened has been updated to an all-new moving game logo, dynamic background, and ambient particles. The logo slowly hovers up and down over time, making the whole screen feel much more "alive" than before, this is especially true thanks to the addition of ambient particles that spawn, slowly move for a short time, and fade out. The feedback button is an inevitably useful addition, as the best opinions are those of the people that play the game. The lines in the background also alternate colours, every 1.5 seconds the orange lines fade to purple, and vice-versa.

The next most significant addition is sound effects. Currently, there is only a single sound effect, that being a click every time a button is pressed, but this is the opening of pandoras box. As soon as suitable sound effects are found, there will be a noise played in the following situations:

- The player jumps

- The player inverses

- The player collides with a spike

- Ambient, generally low energy looping menu music

- Somewhat more energetic music to loop during gameplay

The next menu to get an overhaul was the level select menu. The buttons at the top corners of the screens are now permanently in boxes. Similarly, the numbered buttons to select levels each have their own grey box to give a sense of organization, rather than the lose button and score. Every time the player hovers over a level with their mouse, a grey bar appears beside the level number that fills up with red depending on how difficult the level is (level 5 pictured, 5/10 difficulty). This menu, as well as every level scene has also been given ambient particles, but the particles in level scenes are fewer and further between as to not obstruct gameplay. The content of levels 2 & 3 have been swapped with each other, as well as levels 8 & 9 being swapped with each other. This was based on player feedback for the difficulty of each individual level, and the difficulty scaling overall. Current level difficulties are as follows:

Level 1: 1/10

Level 2: 2/10

Level 3: 3/10

Level 4: 4/10

Level 5: 5/10

Level 6: 7/10

Level 7: 8/10

Level 8: 9/10

Level 9: 9/10

P.S. All sprites so far have been hand-drawn, and levels hand-made :)
